About the artist

Janice Liley became a practicing artist after completing her BFA in 2007 at The National Art School Sydney Australia.  From the beginning of her career she was drawn to the Australian landscape, finding beauty in its parched earth and big skies, which display a spectacular array of saturated hues and tints.

These are in contrast to the filtered light that plays off the verdant rolling hills of north west England where she grew up.  Nevertheless, she finds an affinity between the two countries and enjoys walking through both lands, drawing from their energy.

Both contain vast webs of ancient landlines and trails brought into being by generations of wandering inhabitants, all of whom left behind their marks, indelible etched within the landscape.

Janice now lives and works in Sydney Australia.
